You're Fabulous!

What do you get someone for that milestone birthday who has everything or can buy whatever they want or need?  That's when I dig into my stash of rubber stamps, decorative papers and bling.

I love to celebrate my friends' birthdays with a personalized birthday card.  Stamped images are easy to personalize with colors and decorative "add-ons."  Mount the image on decorative paper and adhere to a blank card.  Add a special message inside and your gift becomes something special from your heart.

I decided to enter the card Concept #59 challenge and STAMPlorations CAS Card Challenge.

THANK YOU!

TEXTURE, 3-D AND GLITTER

I love to say thank you with a handmade card.  I think it shows how much you care because you can make it personal.  I try to use their favorite colors, designs, and themes.

While scanning the Jolee's boutique stickers at Michael's, I saw these adorable cherry blossom stickers.  I noticed them because they were 3-D and had tiny pearls and glitter accents.  I HAD to buy them.  I wasn't sure what I was going to use them on but I had to buy them.  Then when I was leaving the aisle, I saw a Sampler Pack from CANVAS HOME BASICS in pinks.  It caught my eye because of the pretty papers and especially the pink burlap.  Then I realized the stickers would look great with the papers and this card was created.

HAPPY 1ST DAY OF SCHOOL!

It's that time of year again.  Kids are picking out their favorite school supplies, deciding what to wear for their first day, hoping they like their teachers and they don't get too much homework.

I found these in the kids' craft section at Michaels.
A little girl named Lillian is starting kindergarten very soon and I wanted to surprise her with a bright poster to make her day extra special.  Her favorite colors are pink and purple so I used pink and purple alphabet stickers for the wording.  I also found some really cool felt flower stickers to add dimension and brightness.

Family and friends can add their best wishes or dates in the white space of the poster to make it more personal!

I hope Lillian loves her poster and has an awesome first day of kindergarten!

It's A Boy!

A new baby has been added to our long-distance family.   We are so happy for them and happy for me because I get a chance to make a baby card.  I haven't made very many and I knew I wanted to work a quilt pattern onto the card.   I found the sweetest baby boy stickers from Recollections and they're 3-D, which I love.  I am all about texture, 3-D and colors.  This card has them all.  I love how the card turned out.  It looks nothing like the vision I had in my head.  Isn't that the way it goes sometimes!

HAPPY SPRING!

Happy Spring???  Today on the east coast it is cool and grey and we had some rain mixed with snow.  Not a very Spring-like day.  So I thought what a great day to make a card with Recollections' bright color splash and boho themed collection.  The ombre ink pad and wood stamp gave me inspiration for this card.  Then I saw the pretty paper flowers, and the trim...etc.  Lucky for me they were on sale at Michael's!

I designed the background with the boho wood stamp and ombre ink pad on white paper.  The stamp was wooden so it didn't give as sharp an impression as a rubber stamp, but I liked the way it turned out.  I also used the same ink pad to color my wording.  Added some cute trim across the lower half.  Mounted this on orange and fuchsia paper and attached these adorable paper flowers.  Thought it still needed something, so I stamped green leaves, cut them out and tucked them among the flowers.  I am so happy with the way it turned out!

I have decided to send a little "Hello" to a friend of mine who lives in Florida. Her favorite color is orange and she always loves to receive handmade cards.   I hope this gives you inspiration to send a little 'Hello' to a friend.

Happy Spring Everyone!

When I saw the latest inspiration photo for Fusion's card challenge, I was excited to enter because I remembered that I had some papers in my stash that would work perfectly with this.  It also gave me a chance to work with this color palette, which I had never used before.  I think this was the quickest card I ever made.

I decided to combine the photo and the sketch.  I used Stampin' Up soft pink to stamp flowers on the face of the card.  Then I cut different size rectangle pieces of patterned paper and adhered them to the card, stamped my sentiment and added the pretty pink butterflies.  The butterflies make me wish Spring was here!

Putting My Heart into It!

So cute and just in time for Valentine's Day, these decorated heart-shaped cookies caught my eye.  I love the tiny floral decorations.  They look so yummy!  Time to get out my heart stamps and play along with The Card Concept #48 challenge.

First, I used a 1 1/2" punch to cut tan squares.  Then I used a 1 1/4" punch to cut squares in light, medium, and dark pink.  Couldn't wait to open my Inkadinkado clear heart stamps and start embossing hearts on each pink square.  Attached the pink and tan squares together.  Used my Stampin' Up Loads of Love for the sentiment and found a tiny flower stamp that I embossed with red, cut out and attached.  I think it turned out sweet!

Also entered the Double D challenge when I saw their "Pretty Pink Hearts" inspiration photo.

{PIN}spirational Challenge #157

Don't you love the photo challenges.  Sometimes you look at them and immediately get an idea in your head. This one from {PIN}spirational Challenge caught my eye because it was bright and sunny and the background reminded me of a little girl's dress in swiss dot fabric.

I knew immediately I wanted to use my girl stamp as the main focus.  Here is my finished design.  I used my favorite "Mindy" cling stamp from Julie Nutting and colored her in with Marvy bright markers.  Her face was blank so I used a sharpie to add eyelashes, nose and mouth.  I cut her out and set her aside while I created my background with dylusions fresh lime ink spray and water.

I added grosgrain ribbon with white dots to the left side of my background, attached my girl "Mindy", stamped some flowers and my wording, added sequins and tossed in a little glitter with crystal stickles.  I love how it turned out!
I also linked to Crafting With an Attitude (Challenge 11) after checking out their beautiful blog for the first time.

I found these bright, funky, 3-D heart stickers that I couldn't wait to use on a card so I rummaged through my paper stash for a cool and funky design that I could use.  I cut my paper down to size, added a black strip and placed the 3-D hearts to the left.  I used a punch for the large yellow and black circles, adhered them together slightly off, stamped my wording and added a pop dot underneath.

Felt that it still needed a little something so I added black sequins, hole punched yellow circles and set them slightly off before attaching them to the bottom half of my card.

In my abstract mind it goes along with the retrosketches challenge #198 so I hurried up and linked it to their website.  Hope you enjoy this bright funky card!

Congrats to Fusion on their 2nd year anniversary!  I only started doing card challenges last year and when I came across their photos and sketches, I was hooked.  Now I am constantly checking their blog for their latest inspirations.

This week's card challenge of brightly colored flowers reminds me that Spring isn't too far away.   Also, working with these colors helps to brighten these cold cloudy winter days.

I wanted to combine both the photo and the sketch for my card design.

And this is what I came up with.

With Thoughts of You

First, I chose Dylusions' fresh lime ink spray to color my background.  I stamped my sentiments towards the center of my background sheet and then stamped three Inkadinkado floral stamps in an oval pattern around it.  I used my markers to color in the flowers and then fussy cut around the floral design.

The lower half of the card was created with Dylusions' pure sunshine ink spray and a zigzag stencil.  I mounted it below the flowers and added a strip of grosgrain ribbon and popped up a butterfly for a fun accent.  Kinda puts a little spring in my heart!

Check out the latest Card Concept challenge!  I knew I had to join in.  The colors warm my heart and I couldn't wait to try my hand at it.  So here is the challenge picture:

And here is my version.

In my stash of favorite things I found the Kindred Spirits vellum sheet, fussy cut around the wording and mounted it on white textured card stock.  I used postbox red Dylusions' ink spray and water for my red background.  When it was dry, I added a red and white zigzag adhesive border to the bottom and a thin brown grosgrain ribbon with white stitching above it.  Also in my stash were the printed red cups and I heat embossed white hearts for fun.  I mounted my wording towards the top of the red paper and 3-D'd the cups over the ribbon.  This was all mounted on a red and white chevron design paper.  I finished it off  with snowflake sequins.

I was very happy with the way my card turned out.  It warms my heart and I can almost smell the hot cocoa!  Thanks for stopping by!

I am sooo excited...I got "In The Mailbox winner"!!
Thanks Annie!

Happy 2016!
I want to wish everyone a very
fabulous and creative New Year!

First card of the new year and I was thinking soft blue and whimsical with snowflakes.  Something that would make me smile.

Then I remembered I had some cute sparkly snowflake stickers and iridescent snowflake sequins in my stash drawer that I thought would be fun to use. So, of course, I grabbed my Dylusions spray ink for the background, added more water to soften the blue and topped it with a wavy stencil.  Once it was dry, I inked a snowflake design with robin egg blue and stamped it all over the background, heat embossed my sentiment and then added those snowflakes.  I layered this over shiny silver card stock.  And guess what, I'm smiling.  Hope this card makes you smile too!

I am excited to join Cards in Envy for their shiny new year card challenge.  This is my first time entering and I checked to be sure I followed their requirements and even used an A2 size card.
